Wedding parties are ready to PARTY in 2022. And can you blame them?

After two years of hurdling pandemic-related setbacks, brides and grooms everywhere are making permanent plans to (finally) get hitched!

As Lubbock wedding caterers, we can’t wait.

Along with other wedding experts, we’re predicting that this year’s couples will be setting big trends on their special day – right down to the smallest details.

For 2022, here are some of the most popular catering styles we’ll be serving up:

1. Grazing Tables

You can think of a grazing table as a slightly larger, more elaborate charcuterie board. Need we say more?

Whether you skip the hors d’oeuvres and offer grazing tables as a cocktail-hour option, replace the main course with a filling spread, or set up a late-night snacking station, grazing tables are a fun and delicious way to satisfy your guest’s appetites!

2. Personalized Menus

There’s nothing wrong with steak, chicken, or fish, but in 2022, creative couples are saying yes to serving their personal favorites in place of traditional reception meals. Tamales? Why not! Lasagna? Let’s do it!

Tailoring the menu to the couple’s tastes is a great way to get to know the pair even better and evoke great conversations between guests. Some couples will even theme their menu around meaningful places – where they met, their first date, where they got engaged, etc. – as a way to share their story!

3. Comfort Foods

We’re noticing a lot of pizza, wings, and pulled pork sliders on wedding menus these days, and it’s easy to see why. Not only are they super tasty, but these comfort foods can help create the laid-back vibe that many couples are after.

If this sounds like you, don’t be shy! Ditch the intimidating, impossible-to-pronounce entrees and go for mac and cheese instead. And before your mother asks – yes, all of your homestyle favorites can still be presented as an elegant plated meal.

4. Family-Style

Some wedding experts say family-style meals are going out of style, especially after the pandemic. But we live in the South, and we respectfully disagree. Family-style meals are still quite popular! And here’s why…

While reception tables can be a little awkward, especially for those who are seated with total strangers, family-style meals will have your guests feeling like, well, family! The act of physically sharing a meal brings people together like no other style of catering can. Plain and simple – and pass the potatoes, please.
